Blog Post #10 "Mackinac Island"

In the future I want to travel and see destinations that everyone talks about and glorifies. I want to be able to witness with my own eyes the Eiffel, Big Ben, Hollywood and many other well-known monuments and cities.  The past nine blog post that I have written have been about places that I desire to go that have been out of country and out of state, but this one is going to be about a place that I want to travel to in my home state, Michigan. Mackinac Island is a well know tourist destination and many people native to Michigan enjoy taking vacations there on a yearly basis.

I want to go again to experience the beauty of the small island now that I am older and will remember it. Traveling there with family would be fun, but I think I would rather take a couple of friends with me and experience it on our own. A ferry takes the people across the strait from Mackinaw City to the island. While staying on the island we would obviously have to stay in the Grand Hotel, in one of the very unique rooms. Due to the fact that, there are no cars allowed on the island, we would ride bikes or walk to each of the places that we would want to go while enjoying the sunshine and nature of the island. Summer time would be the best time of the year to go because you have to walk everywhere and also, the only time that you can get across with a ferry.

We would also make a quick stop to Devil’s Kitchen, it is a small cave that was carved by the waves from Lake Michigan many years ago. Aside from learning about the history, we would  also walk throughout the many trails in the Mackinac Island State Park and do a little shopping and walking around the town. Lastly would it be a trip to Mackinac Island without taking a dip in the lake or getting the well know Mackinac Island fudge from the multiple fudge shops located around the island? Not at all! So every day would be a new fudge shop and beach.

This would be a trip that I could take every year, but haven’t. My dream is to travel, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be out of the country, Michigan has a number of places that are gorgeous and offer awesome entertainment. At times I hate Michigan, mostly the weather, but when I stop and think about it, I really enjoy this state and the beauty and unique aspects that it has to offer!

Blog Post #9 "California"

Image result for hollywood signTaking it back to the states this week, the next destination that I want to travel is California. I know it’s kind of basic, but I feel like everyone should go there, at least once in their life time. This is the hub of the movie and television industry, and home to many celebrities. The atmosphere would be absolutely chaotic and overwhelming, but I think it would be an experience of a lifetime. I would probably want to go there in the winter time because it would give me a little break from the freezing cold in the northeast and also it wouldn’t be so humid and hot in L.A. I would defiantly want to take a couple of friends with me so that we all can enjoy it together and freely go where ever we want.

I would stay at The Garland hotel, it has a shuttle that can take you to Universal Studios and with a look out the window you can see the iconic Hollywood sign. I would defiantly go visit Universal Studios, although I’m not big on theme parks I would just want to go for the studio tour. I would love to see all the different film sets and witness what goes on behind the scenes of the movies we fall in love with. Which is why I would also want to visit Paramount Pictures and do a studio tour there too. Next on the agenda would be walking down the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It would be awesome to know that you are walking down the same side walk hundreds of stars have been and to read all the legendary names that are honored there.

That day would be our beach day, we would hang out at the Santa Monica Pier with a three-mile coast line, mountain views, and walking and biking pathways. Each day I would want to go to a different beach to enjoy the drive along the coast.

The warm weather, obviously, attracts me to this destination the most, but doing the studio tours and visiting the many beaches would also be amazi. I hope if I ever did go on this trip, I would see a celebrity because is it really a successful trip to California if you don’t get to see a star?
